Yarnlab

Key Challenges

Yarnlab provides a suite of software solutions that automate and simplify migration to Cisco UC and the ongoing life-cycle management of HCS. Helping YarnLab develop YarnMan — the platform they use to deliver YarnApps — is the main focus of TraceRoute42, alongside improving their existing CI/CD model using Docker.

  • Developing the YarnMan platform

YarnMan is the platform YarnLab use to deliver YarnApps. It provides a mechanism to traverse secured and separated networks while delivering base functionality for interaction with APIs, data persistence, reporting and real-time systems — and helping develop it is the main focus of TraceRoute42.

  • Improving the CI/CD model with Docker

TraceRoute42 is especially focused on improving YarnLab's existing CI/CD model using Docker, streamlining how the growing product suite is built, tested and shipped.

  • Supporting a growing product range

YarnLab is constantly improving its toolset — TestMate for Cisco UC test automation, Wrangler for spreadsheet-free migration management, plus tools such as YarnBackup, YarnReporting, UDS Directories and PreYarn — all of which rely on solid delivery infrastructure.

Features realised

Containerised CI/CD with Docker

Docker underpins an improved CI/CD model, giving YarnLab reproducible builds and consistent environments from development through to production.

Immutable images with Packer

Packer builds standardised, immutable machine images so infrastructure for the YarnMan platform can be provisioned reliably and repeatably.

Node.js application stack

The YarnMan platform and its YarnApps run on a Node.js stack, well suited to interacting with APIs and real-time systems across secured, separated networks.

Data layer with CouchDB and Redis

CouchDB provides document-oriented data persistence while Redis handles caching and fast in-memory operations, supporting reporting and real-time features.
