How the TraceRoute42 was born?
Each company has its own start. Once we decided to join the market, we quickly had to come up with a great name for that. The clock was ticking, we were sweating and some crazy ideas came to our minds. Sometimes you are born and already know how to name your business. Other times you are just a group of freaks with even crazier ideas. The second scenario is our scenario.
So let's take a look at what happened in our creative process. Traceroute is a huge part of each and every admin's life. Here some IT phrases will appear but don't worry, you will survive! In computing, traceroute and tracert are computer network diagnostic commands for displaying possible routes (paths) and measuring transit of packets across an IP network. Boring? The definition is boring but you have to admit that the word itself is quite catchy, isn't it?
How then we came up with 42? At that time, the movie 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' by Douglas Adams was on all team members' lips. We were fascinated by the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything for which the answer was 42. We are not sure if we know the proper question nor the understandable answer to that but we are sure that we don't want you to panic and answer all your ultimate questions of tech, the infrastructure deployments, and everything in the area we are the experts - Kubernetes and containerization! Crazy, huh?
